Thank you for this post. I am new to Substack this year, and like you, have found a wonderful community of writers, especially from the nature persuasion. However, the thought of asking future subscribers to pay has been a sticking point for me to begin writing here myself. I have a blog on WordPress and like how it is free for others to read, as I feel that what I put there should be free, and am not all that sure if my writing is worth paying for! The solution that you write about here is a tactful and thoughtful way to negotiate the subscription system on Substack. It gives me positive food for thought.
